The Story of a Patriot is Colonial WIlliamsburg’s “orientation” film of sorts. Consistently shown in the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center since the 1950s. The film, seen by millions over the years, was almost entirely filmed throughout Colonial Williamsburg with many of the historic buildings and visuals new visitors will see on a trip here appearing within the movie. A roughly 36-minute motion picture centered around a newly elected Virginia burgess weighing the pros and cons related to the country’s bold quest for independence. This short piece of cinema history unveils Williamsburg as it would have appeared at the cusp of the Revolution. A film complete with a whole host of well-known American Founding Fathers appearing within the 18th-century Capitol of the Colony of Virginia. A must-see for anyone planning a trip to Colonial Williamsburg, or a most definite, regularly repeated viewing occasion for locals or those who hold the area and its history in high regard.
