Celebrating 50 years of Godzilla! *** Be sure to turn on CLOSED CAPTIONS for English subtitles *** 2004 was the year the world celebrated 50 years of Godzilla. What better way to celebrate than releasing a new Godzilla movie? That film was none other than "Godzilla: Final Wars," and it featured the largest monster cast to appear in any of the previous films. Inspired by the many eras of the previous 49 years, the film centers around a group of humans with strange and gifted powers. Belonging to the Earth Defense Force, these mutants are helpless against an alien invasion who plan on annihilating Earth with the help of its monsters. By unleashing all of them, there is no chance for the planet to survive... until a rugged Commander hatches a plan to release Godzilla from its icy prison. Godzilla must fight all of the freed monsters, but will the King of the Monsters be strong enough to challenge the evil (and new) Monster X?! As mentioned, the roster of monsters was the largest of any Godzilla movie before, and nearly all of them were redesigned for this film. The movie also featured a few new monsters as well in the forms of Monster X, Keizer Ghidorah, and Zilla! Gigan received a very unique look that also changes a bit during the course of the film. But for a movie that promises monsters, it certainly features them.
