The Fountain - Ring scene

This scene is an excellent example of portraying the inner conflict of a character through visuals instead of dialog or exposition. Instead of Tom just saying "I miss my wife" he performs an act of eternal devotion and also what he feels is penance for losing his ring. As with all select scenes from movies, the full emotional impact from this is best experienced when watched with the rest of the movie. A stunning performance by Hugh Jackman who delivers a very natural and raw pain that the audience can empathize with. This is both a great example for visual story tellers as well as actors to take note upon. (This clip has been uploaded for Educational Purposes only, under Fair Use.
