The third season of the Flowering Heart series was planned since the series was originally a trilogy, according to an interview with a fan in September of 2016.[1] On November 29, 2017, the executive producer, Woo-Jin Lee, commented on Twitter that production on Season 3 didn't start due to the decrease of funds from Season 2. Initially, production on Season 3 was scheduled to begin in 2019 and release in 2020.[2] However, Woo-Jin Lee resigned in the first half of 2019, which resulted in disruption for future development. In 2021, Iconix themselves said that the production was eventually canceled.Episodes
